Thought i ought to post something special to celebrate the release of the classic English duo's latest adventure.
"A Matter of Loaf and Death"
The story has it Wallace and Gromit have started a new bread baking business, ‘Top Bun’ and have devoted the whole of 62 West Wallaby Street to the franchise...
All goes well until news goes round that rival bakers have started "disapearing" a preminision for disaster????
This story still has venerable actor Peter Sallis (now aged 88) Playing Wallace with British Actress Sally Lindsay playing the role of new character Piella Bakewell.
Anywhoo just thought i'd do a quick fan peice in time for its Xmas debut on the BBC.
(Characters From the right.) Gromit and Wallace in their trusty Austin A35 van and newcomers "Piella Bakewell" and her pet Poodle "Fluffles".
Ive seen you're own W&G works, they're pretty good i think. No worries about the haylup of it coming out. I cant say how long it'll be before it comes out on U.S. TV but be sure to watch it when it does!
14.3 million tuned in to watch it on Xmas day! it was the top of the national TV ratings on the day.
Cool. Puts me in mind of a particular style of drawing but I can't think what it's called (people aren't exactly falling over themselves to hire me as an art critic, lol). I enjoyed watching Loaf and Death- is Peter Sallis really 88? That's madness.
Now then, the style...hmm! not too sure i know myself but i have done a few drawings like this of late. I did it in charcoals and white chalk (messy messy!) and i liked the result.
You have to go about it in a different way to drawing as you've got to spot more "the form" of the objects rather than the lines and i feel you can get better at drawing things if you can understand the form well enough.
Yeah! Peter is really 88, couldn't believe it myself either when i first heard but you've got to take your hat off to him for still doing it at that age! For me it just wouldn't be the same without him! However...If you listen to the BBC ident intro's (the one of W&G sledging) you can hear him straining a bit so i do wonder for how much longer can Mr Sallis undertake it?
I always appreciate your comments Dom! Keep them coming when you can.
Glad you liked it.
I appreciate that comment and ta for the fave too!
